Коммунист [Kommunist] — Theoretical journal of the Communist Party of the
Soviet Union during the State-Capitalist / Social-Imperialist Period (c. 1955-1991)


      This was the Russian-language theoretical and political journal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the the Soviet Union from 1952 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. This journal was founded under the name Bolshevik in 1924, and was renamed Kommunist in 1952. After the collapse of the USSR it has supposedly continued under the name Svobodnaya Mysl [“Free Thought”], according to the Wikipedia. (This actually now seems to be a quite different sort of publication which no longer has much influence.)

      At present we do not have any issues of the original Russian-language journal. However, we do have a large number of issues (or major parts of them) in English translation, as prepared by the Joint Publications Research Service (JPRS) of the United States government. Of course we cannot be certain that these translations are always completely accurate.

      Readers will hopefully appreciate that these journals from the revisionist (or state-capitalist and social-imperialist) era of the Soviet Union have enormous amounts of political distortion and nonsense in them, including continuing slander of Mao and Maoist China, especially from the 1960s on. As with the other magazines from the Soviet Union during its capitalist era, we are posting these journals so that you can see for yourself just what these revisionists who turned against the revolution were up to!
