Once again the Indian rulers are on the prowl. Not satiated
with the blood and roasted human flesh of thousands of beings in Gujarat they
are out to prey upon crores of innocents in the name of keeping intact the unity
and integrity of the country through keeping Kashmir in perpetual bondage. The
war situation between India and Pakistan at present revolves around Kashmir. For
them Kashmir is not home to a people but a piece of land to be grabbed by mafia
lords. They consider the encroachment of Kashmir as their birthright grossly
rejecting the reality that Kashmir first and foremost belongs to its people.
Holding of millions of lives to ransom to continue the
illegal occupation of Kashmir must be termed as only a criminal attempt on the
part of the Indian ruling classes. The subcontinent was once again pushed to the
brink of a nuclear war for the second time within six months. For the time being
the war clouds seem to be disappearing. The rulers in India continue to behave
as big bullies in the region. The so-called war on terrorism by the US
imperialists worldwide has encouraged the Indian reactionaries to implement
their own version of the aggressive doctrine of unjust wars. They threaten
Pakistan every now and then to extract more from it and in case it refuses to
oblige, attack it. The Indian Prime Minister recently said, "we were ready to
use nuclear arms this time had Pakistan not budged under the US pressure."
They don’t care if a few crore people die on both sides of the border. The
people must die because India cannot allow Kashmiris the right to
self-determination. The rulers want the Kashmir problem solved once and for all
in favour of India no matter if it means the death of millions.
If war is averted for the time it is only because the US did
not want it. The US is concentrating on the North western hills of Pakistan
in pursuit of Al Qaeda and Taliban forces and does not want its campaign
hampered with a war between India and Pakistan. However, the international
gangsters have found the opportunity to sell one and a half billion of dollars
of armaments to both the countries. Tony Blair’s ‘peace’ mission to India some
month’s back was chiefly to discuss a one billion pound deal to sell Hawk
fighter-bombers to India.
Musharraf says that his nuclear arms have averted the war.
Indian president nominee APJ Abdul Kalam also says the same thing. Musharraf
threatened to use the nuclear bombs like the Indian rulers. But as we know the
nuclear deterrence has not been the important factor to prevent war. They would
have done this. Indian has again succeeded in extracting much from Pakistan with
the help of the Americans and the so-called international community. Its open
threats have earned it a major victory over its adversary as the latter is
already hounded by the US and is yielding one after the other demands of the US
imperialists. India has internationalized the Kashmir issue in its own way,
every now and then demanding from the world leaders to force Pakistan to yield.
All the claims that India is not for internationalizing the issue are just
rubbish. The issue is already internationalized. Also the Indian ruling classes’
claim that it will not allow any third party mediation, especially the US’ has
proved shallow. The Indian Government has fully involved the US in the affairs
of the sub-continent to the already growing intervention of the US in South
Asia. A stream of leaders from the imperialist capitals have visited both the
countries and are still coming to "diffuse" the situation. If war is averted it
is due to "international" efforts, due to the internationalization of the
Kashmir question despite claims to the contrary by the Indian rulers.
But can this be attributed to some goodwill on the part of
the imperialist gangsters like the US, which are out to take on the world with
weapons of mass destruction and has the notorious record of destroying Hiroshima
and Nagasaki with the first ever use of atom bombs. Certainly not. But there are
people in both India and Pakistan who thank the US for dragging away both the
countries from the brink of the precipice. The US wants to retain and exercise
its strike-first right. It would have allowed India to destroy Pakistan with
nukes had the Pakistani regime not allied itself with the dirty US war, the war
which in the words of the US butchers is "a war without end." against
"terrorism". But now both are the US allies in this infamous war. And the US
tries to calm them down for its own brutal imperialist interests. On another
score, left to themselves, both would have triggered the nuclear buttons. They
still can do it. Any dramatic change in the situation can trigger it. An
upheaval in Pakistan, or any other major change in the equation of the
reactionary ruling classes, that may see the demise of the present pro-US regime
can unleash it. The Indian forces are ready for that.
Kashmir has made them fight three big wars and an undeclared
war atmosphere has been continuing between both the reactionary states for the
last 55 years. The British imperialists bequeathed this legacy on the
subcontinent and it is continuing to take its toll on both sides of the border.
Both the reactionary states want to control and snatch Kashmir from the rival.
Both are against the independence of Kashmir and the Kashmiris. And for their
reactionary designs they are ready to plunge the people into a nuclear inferno.
The time is to ask both to leave Kashmir in the rightful ownership of Kashmiris,
to stop their intrigues against the people of Kashmir, to vacate the occupation
of the land without delay, to accede to the Kashmiri the right of
self-determination, their right to secession. The people on both sides of the
border should see to the criminal conspiracies of their reactionary and
anti-people rulers and oppose war and not to look unto any deceptive goodwill
form the evil empire that is called the United [Terrorist] States of America.
The illegal occupation of Kashmir by the reactionary states
threaten to cost millions of ordinary humans their life; and it is an end to
this occupation that can save these lives, and not the US or the nuclear
deterrence or some sort of sanity on the part of the rulers. The pushing of the
buttons does not show that somebody insane or mad is sitting at the board. The
nuclear war will not be a result of any madness but a logical outcome of the
Kashmir policy and the expansionist designs of the Indian rulers.
After the Gujrat holocaust the BJP government’s credibility
was at its lowest ebb. They required a diversion. Already the massive deployment
on the border of three-quarters of a million troops has cost the Indian people
Rs.4,000 crores. A full brown war will cost at least Rs.10,000 crores in just
the replinishment of spent ammunition and replacement of military hardware. The
Indian rulers belligrancy in the region can be measured by the gigantic increase
in its military budgets each year — increasing by an additional $1billion
(Rs.50,000 crores) every year. While expenditure on health, education and
poverty alleviation are being drastically slashed, that on armaments is growing
at a frighting pace. While this gives huge profits to the imperialist merchants
of death and massive kickbacks to their agents in India; for the people of India
it means more poverty, greater destitution and untold suffering, Besides, war
hysteria is a great diversion to deflect people’s minds from their own
condition, and instead of the justifiable hatred for the perpetrators of their
situation, venom is injected towards the people of a neighbouring country.
Thereby the evil rulers of the country get saved from people’s wrath. Anti-Pak,
anti-muslim sentiments being fed to the masses, while it may result in the
massacre of lakhs, is an important factor to divert people from revolutionary
struggle, into a maniacal senseless strife resulting in rivers of blood.
It is also for this reason that the people of India must
oppose war with Pakistan and ally with the oppressed democratic masses of
Pakistan to fight common enemies — the rulers of both countries.
Let us oppose our warmongering rulers and to oppose them
effectively let us demand that the Indian occupation forces vacate Kashmir. Let
peace loving Pakistanis also demand the same of their rulers to stop intervening
in the internal life of a nation and vacate their part of the occupied land and
let the Kashmiri people live according to their own wishes and aspirations. The
only solution that is in the best interests of the people of both India and
Pakistan is leaving Kashmir to the Kashmiri people, to force their rulers to
take their killer hands off Kashmir. But, in case India provokes a war, the
people of the country must refuse to be part of it, and instead turn the war
into a civil war against the rapacious monsters rulling this country, and their
imperialist masters.
