Avenge the Nerella killings!

Advance the People’s War!!

— Sukant

The fascist Chandrababu Naidu and his henchmen once again came out in their true colours on July 2nd in Karimnagar district. They entered the Sankenaboru hillocks on the outskirts of Nerella village falling in Dharmapuri mandal of Karimnagar district, with clear information provided by a betrayer that Com. Padma and three others were temporarily resting there. The betrayer brought food, which was heavily drugged. Consequently, all the members fell unconscious after consuming the food. After it was guaranteed that they were unconscious, the betrayer informed the police. The cowardly police entered the area and after the comrades woke up caught them and tortured them, especially Com. Padma (35) and killed her brutally firing tens of bullets into her head, neck and the entire body. Com. Sagar (21), com. Vikram (21) and com Manasa (18) were killed similarly. Police shamelessly concocted a usual cock and bull story of an encounter which none believed.

Caring a hoot for the talks and the agreement they reached with the representatives of the CPI(ML)(PW), Coms. Gaddar and Vara Vara Rao, and to the wide public opinion that the government should stop fake encounters and combing operations so as to provide a conducive atmosphere to facilitate the talks, discarding even his fig leaf of commitments, Chandrababu went on to fully defend the police action to the hilt. He further went on to demand the withdrawal of the armed struggle by the PW.

Chandrababu Naidu, cunning fox as he is, has been continuing his agenda of intensification of combing operations, fake encounters and he never forgets to chant his pet theme of demanding withdrawal of armed struggle. During the period of cease-fire, declared by the AP State committee in the month of February this year, Naidu’s mercenaries killed 10 comrades in Eturunagaram on March 13th. Though immediately the cease-fire was withdrawn, keeping the people’s interest as paramount, again PW came out with a new cease-fire. But the restraint by the revolutionaries was mistaken as weakness and Chandrababu has the temerity to declare that it was the PW who wanted the talks. On June 23rd two women comrades were captured while they were sleeping and were killed in cold-blood in Palvancha area of Khammam district.

The AP state committee demanded an apology and a judicial inquiry into this incident. They demanded a committee comprising of intellectuals and civil right activists to monitor the cessation of armed hostilities during the period of the talks and before.

The Killing of four comrades was widely condemned. Coms. Gaddar and Vara Vara Rao condemned the fake encounter. They questioned the integrity and commitment of the Naidu government towards talks. They demanded a judicial enquiry into the Khammam amd Karimnagar fake encounters. They recalled that while the PW had asked for an apology and demanded a judicial enquiry into the Khammam incident, Naidu answered with the Karimnagar incident. On July 6th, Coms. Gaddar and V V dissociated with the process of the talks because of the belligerent attitude of the government, ‘which continued to kill and yet invite the PW for talks’. The CPI, while condemning the killing, said that though there was an opportunity to arrest them live, the police resorted to killings. Further, it said that if talks fail the CM and the Home minister would be solely responsible. The CPI and CPI (M), both demanded a judicial inquiry into the killing. The Concerned Committee for Citizens (CCC) said while the PW is observing restraint, encounter killings are on the rise. It condemned the fake encounter. Almost the entire press disbelieved the story of encounter and squarely blamed Naidu’s police for the latest brutality.

The AP State committee, NT SZC and AOB committee in a joint statement, while condemning the incident, called for a State wide protest Bandh for two days on July 11th and 12th. Despite Police concentration to make the bandh call a failure it had its impact in the struggle zones. Karimnagar district totally came to a stop for the two days.

Before this, despite all the hurdles put up by the police, the funeral procession of Com. Padma on July 4th at Jammikunta town was attended by thousands of people, who came to pay revolutionary tributes to an untiring revolutionary.

Padma’s funeral procession

It should be clear to all now that Chandrababu is playing the drama of talks on the one hand and on the other, he and his hirelings are sabotaging it from the beginning. Following his master’s voice, DGP Ramulu began his tirade saying that the police cannot tolerate Naxals moving with arms; they are utilizing the time to strengthen themselves; they are on an extortion campaign; they are on a recruitment drive; etc, etc.

Enough is enough. It is time to call it a day and to further sharpen the scalpels.

Com. Padma — An Untiring revolutionary
