International Seminar

Press Communiqué of the
International Seminar

on ‘Imperialism and Proletarian Revolution in the 21st Century’

The international seminar on ‘Imperialism and Proletarian Revolution in the 21st Century’, organised as part of celebrating the tenth anniversary of the initiation of the People’s War in Nepal, has been successfully completed with the participation of 14 Maoist parties and organisations. The seminar was held at a historic juncture where the Nepali people are marching forward to a decisive victory over their enemies and when US imperialism, the main enemy of the people of the world, is getting bogged down in its wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was held with the acute recognition of the tremendous potential existing in the present world situation for making great revolutionary advances and the need to overcome the existing weakness of the communist forces in order to unleash it.

The CPN (Maoist) and the CPI (Maoist) presented papers, while other parties contributed by way of notes and presentations. The debates in the seminar were mainly focused on the specific features of imperialism in the present context of imperialist globalisation, the necessary strategy and tactics to be followed in the imperialist and oppressed countries, the lessons of the dictatorship of the proletariat in the erstwhile socialist countries and the task of going beyond the high pinnacle of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China and the need to strengthen the unity of the Maoist forces at the world level. All of this was closely tied up with and serving the need of defence, application and development of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, the science of revolution, to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It was rich in its depth, broad in its span and lively in its clash of views, fully expressing the spirit of proletarian internationalism and the strength of its ideology as a "wrangling-ism", ever ready to struggle in the battlefields of revolution and equally in the realm of ideas.

The suggestions of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement and the CPI (Maoist) and the readiness of the parties and organisations to overcome all difficulties in order to be present were of great help in the successful organisation of the seminar. While the Communist Party of Afghanistan, Communist Party of Bhutan (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist), Communist Party of India (Maoist), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Naxalbari, Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist), Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Communist Party of the Philippines, Maoist Communist Party—Italy, Maoist Communist Party (Turkey and North Kurdistan), Proletarian Party of East Bengal (CC) and the Proletarian Party of East Bengal (Maoist Unity Group) were participants, the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA and the Workers' Party of Iran were observers.

The seminar commenced with the singing of the 'Internationale' and commemoration of martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of communism. Messages from different parties were read, including from the TKP/ML. On coming to know the news of the brutal murder of comrade Chandra (CC member) and comrade Karuna (District Committee member) of the CPI (Maoist) by the Indian state, the seminar paid homage to them. The seminar hall was decorated with photos of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tsetung and martyred leaders of the Maoist movements of different countries, as well as red banners with quotations from Marxist classics and revolutionary slogans. A special attraction was the call of the Communist Manifesto, "Workers of All Countries Unite", written in different languages. The delegates and observers at the seminar had the opportunity to experience the exuberant revolutionary culture born of the People's War through the performances of the Samana Revolutionary Cultural Group.

In his concluding speech comrade Prachanda, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist), expressed his profound conviction that the seminar was a historic event that would send a powerful message to the people of the world about the unity of the Maoist forces and a warning to imperialism and all reaction. The seminar ended with the hall resounding to the slogans raised by the delegates.

Long Live Marxism-Leninism-Maoism!
Long Live Proletarian Internationalism!
Down with US Imperialism!
Down with Indian Expansionism!
Long Live the Unity of Maoists of the World!
Workers and Oppressed People of the World Unite!
Long Live World Proletarian Revolution!
