Our Red Flag dipped in the blood of Martyrs’ flying high in the hands of revolutionary masses!

Arjun

In the past one month we had seen similar scenes in entire Andhra Pradesh, be it in the plains, or the interior forests or in the ravines and hilly areas. They are the scenes of the revolutionary masses coming into the streets carrying fluttering red flags. Particularly during the martyrs’ week (from July 28th to August 3) people from each village vowed to carry forward the struggle of the people’s heroes and avenge their martyrdom by intensifying the struggle.

The Andhra Pradesh government which has been saying that it respects the democratic rights of all political parties to hold a public meeting did everything possible to threaten the people attending the meetings organized during the martyrs’ week in various locations. To mark the beginning of this martyrs’ week celebration the CPI (ML) People’s War organized a mass meeting in Warangal district on July 28th. As part of this a martyr’s column was built in Mogilicherla the home town of Com Ramakrishna (NT SZCM) and then a mass meeting was held, preceded by a rally at Edumamula village. The Warangal district which gave birth to many worthy sons and daughters has been bleeding continuously ever since the revolutionary movement started in this area once again became red to remember its heroic sons and daughters. A "Committee for the family members and friends of martyrs" which has been doing significant work in bringing the families of martyrs together to share their grief has once again brought together the family members of the martyrs. The presence of family members who lost their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands has proved that they are still with the movement in spite of losing their beloved ones. It was a scene of people with deep anguish and emotionally charged up. Anticipating such a great impact on the people, the police machinery did its best to obstruct the people coming for the meeting, stopped the vehicles coming towards Warangal and scared them using video cameras. Apart from deploying a large number of policemen in civil dress they had engaged about 500 video cameras and tryied to capture the image of every person attending the meeting. But all these coward tactics of the police didn’t stop the people from attending the meeting organized for remembering their beloved sons and daughters. The masses didn’t bother in spite of the threats by the police officials saying "it is only a matter of few days and we will see each one of you after this talks drama ends". The Congress government which came into power with a promise of creating a democratic atmosphere showed its true color by slapping cases against Comrades Varavara Rao, Gaddar, Kalyan Rao and others.

The large number of masses (estimated to be more than 2 lakhs) who attended has answered many questions regarding the mass base of the People’s War party. There has been a continuous propaganda by the State machinery that the PW party has lost its mass base and is surviving only on its arms power which has also weakened in the recent period. A section of intellectuals is also doing its best to propagate this opinion. But the fact is that the People’s War always had a mass base and People’s War can’t survive without the masses.

Even in the midst of severe repression also it has mobilized people. Take the example of martyrs’ week, people have been observing July 28 to August 3 as martyrs’ week for many years. They have been organizing meetings some times on a large scale or small scale depending on the circumstances. Some times they get an opportunity to have open meetings and some times they may not. Striving for advancing the movement is the class nature of the people. Without understanding this class nature it is difficult to see their mobilization and organized power. The brute force of the ruling class can never stop the mobilization of the people. Even when the Chandrababu government was going on an indiscriminate killing of the revolutionary leadership the people of Andhra Pradesh moved in large numbers defying state repression, demanding the dead bodies of the martyrs. The advancement of mass struggle can never be a straight line, it always passes through ups and downs. This is the fact proved again and again in world history. By moving in such large numbers in a short span, the people of Andhra Pradesh have once again proved the same reality.

Naxalbari received a set back. But thousands of people who travelled in the path shown by Comrade Charu Mazumdar, the initiator of the Naxalbari movement had laid the foundations for the Indian revolution. The people of Andhra Pradesh have shown many struggles in that direction in the past two decades. By showing how the guerrilla war advances, how guerrilla army is formed and how mass struggles are organized and advanced under severe repression the people of Andhra Pradesh proved their revolutionary consciousness. The successful celebration of martyrs’ week this year through out the state is definitely a historic point in the history of people’s struggles.

In the past two decades many persons who failed to gauge the people’s strength had left the path of revolution. But the people advanced with their own fighting spirit. The evil designs of the international axis of Bush-Blair-Chadrababu which tried to convert Andhra Pradesh into a model for suppressing the people’s movements for not only India but also for the Asian and African continents, received blows, and the support extended by the axis of Vajpayee-Advani-Venkaiah to crush the movement proved futile before the fighting spirit of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Enlightened by the revolutionary politics of the CPI(ML) People’s War party they rallied in such large numbers under its leadership defying state repression.

From October 2003 till the middle of this August, in this past 11 months all the political discussions in the state were centered around the single issue what the agenda for the talks will be between the state government and People’s War party. Large sections of people cutting across party lines have participated in this discussion and expressed their opinions. Comrade Mao’s "Let 100 flowers blossom and thousand thoughts contend" for arriving at a correct opinion proved correct in Andhra Pradesh. The entire country is eagerly looking at the political discussions in Andhra Pradesh.

The important outcome of this political debate is that it has compelled every one to accept that the Naxalite problem is a socio-economic problem. Seeing the people’s pressure they had to change their voice. However they would do their best to twist the issue. Wherever they are pushed to a corner by the people they are saying that they are treating the Naxalite problem as a socio-economic issue and are ready to discuss it. This is only a people’s victory and not a change of heart of the ruling classes. It is none but the people and their struggles compelled them to hold talks with the CPI (ML) People’s War.

Ignoring this reality a section of intellectuals and the mainstream media, which, as trusted followers of the establishment, is making its own interpretation of these objective conditions. They are crediting the Andhra Pradesh government for lifting the ban and taking initiative for talks and arguing that the People’s War party should come forward without any pre-conditions. Influenced by the government’s propaganda a section of reporters and intellectuals is putting this opinion as its own opinion. In the mean time the state government machinery, which is an experienced hand in implementing the multi-pronged attack for suppressing the revolutionary movement, is now making all efforts to convince the people about its sincerity in talks. The State government is appealing to the police officials to show restrain. And in place of coverts it brought forward political coverts. Persons like Satyamurthy are brought forward to pour dirt on the revolutionary movement and revolutionary mass organizations. And similarly many socalled ML party leaders are trying to use this political atmosphere for their selfish interests. But these people shouldn’t forget that even if they manage to get some sympathy by telling some good words it is impossible for them to win the people’s confidence because people know very well who are going to remain with them during the struggle and who are going to side with the ruling classes. One shouldn’t forget that the people are the real motive forces behind history. And the people are in the people’s war. This is what the people of Andhra Pradesh are showing. We pay our salutes to the heroic people of Andhra Pradesh.

Responding to this objective situation the politburo of the CPI(ML)(PW) and its AP, NT and AOB State committees clearly declared that the people’s issues are the real agenda and other issues like carrying weapons etc are not their priority. They invited every one who is willing to discuss on the people’s issues to come forward and participate in the talks. They also joined hands with the Janashakthi party in this process. The CPI(ML)(PW) and CPI(ML) (Janashakti) together are signatories to the cease fire declaration, The Janashakti which was known for its rightist politics, was also a victim of State violence in AP.

Today it is a well known fact that the present UPA government at the Center and the Congress-TRS government at the state are implementing the same anti-people globalization policies dictated by the IMF and the WB. But they are trying to do this under a mask of "Reforms with a Human Face". The CMP (Common Minimum Program) document the policy document of the new government at the Center is nothing but old wine in a new bottle. The Congress leaders at the state level are sweating to cover up the shares of the TDP leaders in the developmental schemes implemented by the Chandrababu government. At the same time the BJP and TDP leaders who lost power are doing their best to prove that they are on the people’s side and pouring a lot of love for the people. We must expose their crocodile tears.

Only by intensifying the political struggle to expose the antipeople policies of the ruling classes we can fulfil the dreams of the martyrs to seize political power. For this we must mobilize lakhs of people in every village, every town in not only Andhra Pradesh but also in Dandakaranya, Bihar, Chattisagrh through out the country. We mustn’t forget that this is the message of the martyrs who laid down their lives holding aloft the redflag.

Let us carry out the propaganda in every village to intensify the struggle for political power. Let us declare that imperialism and its Indian agent ruling classes are one and the same. Let us solidly declare that it is impossible to defeat the fully armed imperialism without arming ourselves and we call upon the proletariat, farmers, students and intellectuals to stand in the forefront of this struggle.

Red salutes to the Martyrs!

Let us carry forward the struggle of our beloved comrades!!

Let us mobilize the oppressed masses of the world into the fight against globalization!!!.
