On 12 th
July each and every corner of coal zone headquarters, Dhanbad, was rocked with
the revolutionary slogans of Jangarjana Rally. Thousand of people came from
throughout of the country have participated in Janagarjana Rally, which was
jointly organized by AIPRF, SFPR and FPR. This historic rally was organized to
demand repeal of POTA, scrap the cases booked under POTA, lift the ban imposed
on PW and MCCI, to acquit the five peasants who have been sentenced to death in
Bihar.
The rally commenced
from Shahid Bhagat Singh Ground. About ten thousand people come from each part
of the country have taken part in the rally with red banners, red flags and red
strips in their hands. These include children, women, young and old persons. In
the forefront of rally children were dancing with their traditional arms in
their hands on the rhythm of drum beats. While other people in rally were
raising slogans "stop the brokering of Imperialism in the name of Reformism",
"smash the fascism", "Repeal the POTA", "lift the ban imposed on PW and MCCI",
"unite all the democratic forces against oppression and exploitation", etc.
Cultural artists were presenting pseudo war against exploiters and rulers. There
was one forth of women in the rally. The rally was so big that it made whole of
the city to stand still. It was taking more than one hour to cross any point.
But having such a big rally, it was a well disciplined rally. Everything was
well organized. No hotchpotch was there. Common citizens were surprised to see
such a big militant rally of peasants and labours after a long gap.
At 4 O’clock the
rally returned to Shahid Bhagat Singh Ground. First the cultural organisations
performed cultural programs, and then the meeting was started. Addressing the
meeting as main speaker President of APDR, Punjab, Sh. Dhir Singh Tark, said
that the ruling class of the country is the real terrorist, which is racking
havoc on the workers through the notorious POTA. This is using it for
suppressing the people’s movements. It has to be repeal immediately. Naxalites
are the genuine patriot, he said. The meeting were also addressed by Dr. Darshan
Pal of AIPRF, Com. Rajkishor of SFPR, Com. Janki Rami Reddy of FPR, Marxist
intellectural Asim Chatterjee, Baldev Jha, R. C. Prasad and Sukhwinder Kaur of
Aurat Mukti Manch.
