Martyr’s Week:
Commemorate Martyred Revolutionary Heroes

July 28. 2004 is the 32nd Anniversary of the martyrdom of Com. Charu Mazumdar. CM, as he was fondly known, inspired an entire generation and forged a new path for the Indian people. Since, Indian politics has never been the same. With Naxalbari and the politics of the seizure of power by armed force, it was for the first time in the history of the country that politics got polarized into two clear-cut camps — that of the reactionaries and the revolutionaries. Decades of revisionist obfuscation were swept away and a generation of dedicated revolutionaries was born, without any stake in the present rotten order.

The sparks of Naxalbari have now spread into a prairie fire in many parts of the country — in the plains and forests of AP, Dandakaranya, Bihar, Jarkhand, with seeds of people’s war planted in West Bengal, Karnataka and many other states of the country. More important the revolutionary forces of the country are gradually merging into a single revolutionary Party — the dream of CM, who not only led the Naxalbari struggle but also founded a revolutionary party, the CPI(ML) is becoming reality once again. This, together with that of the MCCI, has seen a glorious 3-decade history of struggle and sacrifice. Though revisionists of varied hews sought to divert the revolution from the path of people’s war the CPI(ML)(PW) and the MCCI have emerged in the forefront to build the Maoist movement in the country. For this great task hundreds of lives have been sacrificed. On this solemn occasion we remember their dedication to the cause of revolution.

Kanchan

In the last one year roughly 150 comrades have been martyred. In the nine years of Naidu’s fascist rule in Andhra Pradesh 1,600 comrades have been killed, including 160 women. During the election period 14 more were killed and in just the week after Naidu’s defeat and the new govt being sworn in seven more were killed. Today five comrades from the MCCI are awaiting the death sentence.

Amongst those martyred from AP are: Oct 23,2003 Suguna(Lata) Guntur district committee member was killed along with Visakhapatnam district secretary Sadanandam.. in Visakhapatnam; Swaroopa, district committee member  was killed in North Telangana; Nagamani, Area committee member in an encounter in Prakasam dt; Ratnam,  Panagal LGS commander, Mahaboobnagarv ACM; Narsihma-reddy 18/04/04  Kalvakurthy LGS comm, Mahaboob nagar ACM; in DK PL 1commander Raju was killed; in Bengal Comrade Kanchan (a State Committee member) and Dulal were killed in fake encounters by the Buddadeb govt.; in Bihar more than ten comrades were killed in this year. Com. Kudisingh, an Adivasi comrade, who rose to DCM, was caught and killed by the Jharkhand police; and Hajima and Parvati (Sq member and  DCM) were killed in Karnataka.

Let us commemorate martyrs week throughout the country by carrying the revolutionary message of our fallen comrades to all corners of the country.
