Everyday reports are
comming in from the far corners of the state that the majority opposition
candidates for the panchayat polls can not file their nominations due to the
CPM’s terror tactics. In various districts of the state, the CPM candidates won
the elections of panchayats, Block, Zilla parishad seats ‘uncontested.’
Particularly in Midnapore district where the police-CPM combined raj, is on a
full offensive against the people. There are few opposition candidates who dared
to file their nomination papers. Thousands of CPM members get elected without
the farce of the process of casting votes.
From Kolkata the TMC,
BJP, Congress, RSP, FB & others are issuing one after another press statements
condemning the situation. Mamata is singing her old rusted song once again, that
is the need for Rastapati rule. This time there are takers of her call in Delhi.
The central and the state leaders of their parties, from Venkaiah Naidu to the
jail minister of the Left Front govt., issued press statements; even, this time,
seat adjustments did not take place between the CPM & it’s major partners, the
RSP, FB etc.
Anil Biswas, the
champion of ‘democracy’, with their ‘model communist state in the world’,
routinely answered the press. stating that everything is normal. There is no
problem, he said in any panchayat block or at the Zilla parishad level.
Interestingly, this time, Buddha officially asked his party men to allow
opposition candidates to file nominations. It seems that the CM is apparently
condemning the version of his party boss to appease the centre and the media.
The majority columns of the press, praise Buddha and his ‘democratic’ approach.
After getting so many of their members declared elected ‘without contest’, the
CPM led Left Government, and its election machinary, sent thousands of state and
paramilitary forces to the rural areas, particularly to Midnapore, Bankura &
Purulia. Why was this necessary, even after the CPM leaders themselves claimed
that the presence of the CPI(ML)(PW) & MCCI is nominal? Rulers of the state know
it very well that revolutionary politics and armed struggle are now on the
agenda in Rural Bengal and the revolutionaries are leading them. So, they feel
insecure, resulting in the recent forms of brutal repression, irrespective of
the whether the elections are on the agenda or not. We think there is no
difference between Buddha & Anil or with anyone in the leadership of the social
fascists. All are the same. Due to pressures from various corners, sometimes
their way of expression may appear different but the content and the nature of
their approach is the same. They will blame others for the developments.
Actually in rural Bengal a dangerous type of fascism is ruling, in the names of
Marx & Lenin. No one is allowed to ask for their democratic rights. Once again
now it is crystal clear that the CPM is ruling the state with muscle power. No
doubt the Congress ruled their own pocket of so-called strongholds 25 years
back, when it (add TMC also) was in power. It too adopted the same terror
methods at all levels.
Ironically, the CPM
and Congress both untidily acted against the Communist revolutionaries in the
1960’s and 70’s and now too, with the addition of the fascist BJP, they try to
safeguard their class interests only. All the parties which are in the fray for
the elections are, in essence, the same. However contradictions among these
become evident nakedly for grabbing electoral power.
Power comes from the
barrel of the gun. People’s government will be established through violent
revolution only. As revolutionaries we are openly propagating our understanding
among the oppressed masses. The CPM, which rules through gun power, expresses
itself as a champion of democracy as the most vocal advocate of parliamentism.
The so-called
democratic parliamentary politics is itself nothing but a hoax for the people.
Oppressors have been ruling at the Centre and States. They may rule under the
banners of the BJP, CPM, Telugu Desam or someone else, but the power which they
have in hand is for oppression of the common people and against the voice of
protest. And sometimes such ruling parties will act against their own partners
too for their own interests. So it is the duty of the oppressed people to
overthrow the system itself. Vast areas of various states particularly Andhra,
Bihar, Jharkhand, Dandakaranya, etc show the path of alternative people’s power.
Now, we are fighting
with all the ruling class parties, CPM, BJP and TMC, in Midnapore and other
districts of West Bengal, in order to establish an alternative power system from
the grassroots. So we are appealing to the masses to strengthen the struggle and
boycott the elections of deception. The on-going contradictions over the filing
of nominations shall be over soon, with the end of this drama of Panchayat
elections. It is the call of the moment to boycott such elections and join the
forces of revolution growing day by day through the sacrifices of the communist
revolutionaries facing cruel state repression and gangsterism of the CPM, BJP,
Congress(I), TMC, etc.
