The
US assassins have ultimately got through their resolution of slaughter of the
Iraqi people. The UN has acted as an imperialist tool to trounce upon a poor and
oppressed country by conceding to the US-British sponsored motion that calls for
Iraq to let in imperialist agents in the form of arms inspectors to spy on all
kinds of military and civil installations, even to search through the palaces of
the Iraqi president, and above all, to lay ground for another devastating war on
Iraq. The UN resolution is to force Iraq to declare its alleged weapons of mass
destruction and to lay bare whole of its land for the inspectors to rummage
around. This is for the second time that the UN has acted to throttle and
destroy Iraq through war and the third time in history to go to war against a
country. In the early fifties, the first resolution to launch war against a
country was passed in the UN when North Korea was made the target of US
aggression in 1951. Now the UN resolution on Iraq again gives the US butchers of
the world people a right to carry on their nefarious plans in the Gulf of
Persia. Those who are the biggest powers of the planet and have enormous
stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear, chemical and
biological weapons, the so-called veto powers, have acceded all this to the
biggest warlord of the world, the US imperialists. The French and Russian
imperialists, after a diplomatic display of opposition, have collaborated with
the US in throttling Iraqi sovereignty by entering into a secret deal with it
for the re-division of the Iraqi oil wealth. The Chinese revisionists have
yielded to the US imperialist demands for a few crumbs.
It
is sheer brigandage of the big powers that the UN has been made to act as a
spineless organisation of nations who unite to kill and maim one of their own
members whose defence and sovereignty the UN is expected to safeguard. This only
proves that the UN is not meant to defend the cause of all of its members but is
to serve and advance the brutal interests of a few imperialist powers.
After the September 11, 2001 events, the US is threatening and rampaging the
poor and weak nations of the world. It has declared its opponents as evil,
rogues, undesirables and enemies. It has issued a long list of targets that span
all the continents inhabiting the poor countries and nations. Its war on
Afghanistan helped it to exercise hegemony over the Central Asian republics. Its
war-moves in the Middle East are meant not only to enforce a regime change in
Iraq but also threaten the Palestinian revolution, the Islamic republic of Iran,
Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, and every other country that dares to
oppose it. In the South East and East Asia, it is further extending its fangs in
Indonesia, Philippines and the Korean peninsula. In Latin America it is
threatening Colombia, Peru and Venezuela, and is now flexing for Brazil. "Either
you are with us or with our enemies" is the new war doctrine of the US
imperialists.
As
the interests of the people of the world are in direct contradiction with
imperialism and the US imperialism in particular, the US has declared the people
of the whole world as its enemies. It is especially targeting the areas that are
rich in natural resources. Most of the countries in these areas are Muslim or
predominantly Muslim. Therefore, it is targeting especially Muslims, and also
Asians and Africans in the US itself along with the common American people a
good part of whom are against the policies of their own imperialist rulers. The
US sees enemies everywhere, and rightly so. It has enemies everywhere and their
number is going to increase everyday despite all its rhetoric about the "war
against terrorism," and the "enemies of civilization, and peace and progress."
Already, the people around the world have started thronging the streets in
opposition to the US’ war policies. The war on Afghanistan saw a powerful spate
of anti-US demonstrations in all parts of the world. The anti-imperialist
globalisation movement that was engulfing all the continents started converting
itself into an anti-war movement. Now, the anti-war sentiments are again on the
rise in the wake of US war threat to Iraq. London saw about half a million
people converging on the streets against the impending war on Iraq. Almost all
the big and small cities of Europe have seen thousands and tens of thousands of
people chanting anti-US and anti-British slogans. In dozens of US cities,
including New York and Washington, tens of thousands have expressed their anger
against the US rulers. Two months back lakhs of people around the world
demonstrated against fascist Israeli-US gang-up in Palestine and in support of
the freedom of the struggling Palestinian people. The people in Muslim countries
are especially up against the US imperialists. The Arab people who are seething
with rage against Israeli butchery in Palestine, an aggression on Iraq will only
further add to their fury and may ignite the fire of revolt and rebellion
against their own rulers who are showing a disgraceful slavishness towards the
US imperialists.
