The CC, CPI (ML)[PW]
condemns the involvement of the Indian government in the conspiracy leading to
the cold-blooded murders of King Birendra of Nepal and several members of the
Royal family. The sequence of events following the gruesome massacre at the
Royal Palace on June 1 proves beyond any doubt the involvement of the Indian and
American government. The reactionary rulers in Delhi and Washington have
succeeded in installing their puppet on the throne in Kathmandu after
eliminating King Birendra. And every move made by the newly-installed king
Gyanendra is dictated from Delhi – reiteration of the ridiculous story of the
crown prince Dipendra killing his parents in a fit of rage over the controversy
regarding his marriage, setting up a fake commission of enquiry in a hasty
manner meant to cover up the conspiracy, arresting anti-Indian protestors and
journalists, and so on.
Three immediate
concerns prompted the pro-Indian section of the ruling classes of Nepal, the
Indian expansionist ruling classes and the American imperialists to organize the
conspiracy to eliminate king Birendra.
First, King Birendra
is known to be a staunch opponent of any external interference in the internal
affairs of Nepal and the expansionist designs of the Indian ruling classes. His
campaign for making Nepal into a zone of peace with no outside intervention was
consistently blocked by the Indian government in spite of over a hundred
countries supporting the King’s proposal. Naturally, the assertive role and
independent stance of the king on several issues, and his refusal to toe the
line of the Indian rulers became an eyesore to the Indian expansionists.
Second, the rapid
pace of development of the people’s war led by the Maoist forces in Nepal has
unnerved the Indian expansionists and the US imperialists who strongly advocate
the deployment of the Royal Nepalese Army to crack down on the Maoists. The
refusal of King Birendra to deploy the army against the Maoists, has earned the
wrath of a section of the reactionary ruling classes of Nepal as well. This
section of the pro-Indian ruling classes of Nepal who are keen on taking on the
Maoist forces with the help of the Indian army if necessary, have conspired with
the Indian and American governments to eliminate King Birendra and install a
pro-India puppet ruler. By this, the scheme is laid for launching an all-out war
against the revolutionary forces in Nepal. King Birendra became a victim of the
nexus between the pro-India sections of the reactionary ruling classes in Nepal,
the comprador bureaucratic bourgeoisie of India and imperialism, particularly
American imperialism. Needless to say, the newly installed pro-India,
pro-American puppet, King Gyanendra, is all set to unleash a blood bath in the
Maoist-dominated districts of Nepal. Role of the Indian army and intelligence
agencies and the CIA is bound to increase in the counter-revolutionary bloody
campaign against the Maoist forces.
Third, the Indian
ruling classes are sore over the fact that the Nepalese King has taken a more
friendly approach towards Pakistan. The rulers in Delhi, the RAW and the defence
spokesmen have been crying hoarse that the Inter-Services Intelligence of
Pakistan has been using Nepal as a fertile ground for promoting anti-India
activities, that the ISI is involved in whipping up anti-India sentiments among
the Nepalese and that something has to be done to contain this ‘menace’. To
accomplish this, the Indian rulers need a puppet and not an assertive and
independent King like Birendra. Hence by assassinating the King, the Indian
rulers have achieved three objectives: installing a pro-Indian puppet in
Kathmandu, curtailing the operations of Pakistan and, most important of all,
launching an all-out war against Maoist forces.
The desperate
attempts by the Indian ruling classes, the pro-India puppet regime in Kathmandu
and the American imperialists to cover up the cold-blooded murders in the Royal
Palace have come to naught. Quite rightly, the people of Nepal have shown their
fury against the conspirators by coming out in massive demonstrations.
The CC, CPI(ML)[PW]
sees these brutal murders as a part of the conspiracy hatched by the Indian
ruling classes to convert Nepal into their protectorate and to finally annex it
like Sikkim.
It warns the people
of Nepal to be constantly vigilant against the machinations of the Indian ruling
classes and their involvement in suppressing the Maoist forces.
It assures full
support to the just struggles of the people of Nepal against bullying
arm-twisting, subversion and intervention in the internal affairs of their
country by the Indian rulers.
It warns the Indian
government to keep its hands off Nepal and that any attempt to render aid to the
new king in the counter-revolutionary campaign against the Maoist forces will
not be tolerated by the Indian people.
It calls upon all the
democratic forces in India to raise their voice against the Indian expansionist
manoeuvres in Nepal.
