Informers Annihilated

(i) One informer, Thota Mogili, belonging to Kesanapalli village of Mutharam mandal of Karimnagar district (He was the brother-in-law of traitor Jadala Nagaraju who killed SZC member Com. Vijay in a covert operation) was annihilated. He was a police informer from 1995 itself. He used to help the police by harassing and arresting villagers and afterwards releasing them by sharing the bribes. Several times the party cautioned him to change his ways. But he didn’t listen. As Jadala Nagaraju came from jail in 1998 and covertly worked in the party, Mogili played the role of middleman between Nagaraju and the police. After Com. Vijay’s martyrdom the party din’t have clear information about the role of Mogili and put him under observation. In the meanwhile, two members of the Jagitial squad, Com. Kamala (hails from Kesanapalli) and Com. Harireddy (hails from Nawabpet village of Husnabad mandal) weakened and came out of the squad to lead a family life and decided to surrender. The parents of these two comrades approached Mogili for the surrender process. The unrepentant traitor, Mogili got those two comrades arrested and then killed in a fake encounter. Jadala Nagaraju also directly participated in this fake encounter. As Mogili’s atrocities on the village people continued unabated, people demanded the removal of this traitor. Accordingly, he was annihilated by the guerrilla squad on 23rd April, 2000.

(ii) Another Informer, Challuri Venkataiah belonged to the Gatla Narasingapur village in Bheemadevarapalli mandal of Karimnagar district. He previously worked for some time in the village peasant organisation as a full timer and later surrendered to the police. After surrender, he became a police informer and fed the police with information. He toured several villages on a police scooter and got arrested several peasant activists. He came with the police to the old party dens in the villages and waited to ambush the guerrilla squad. He threatened several villagers not to do party work. He even made the landlords re-occupy their lost lands and forcibly made them plough. He even lured several villagers to become informers. He used to enjoy the police torture of peasant activists. The party several times cautioned him about his wrong doings. Postering was also done to get him to change his activities. As he didn’t listen and continued his atrocities, the guerrillas annihilated this traitor on 15th May, 2000.

(iii) A police informer, Korrakalla Kesavarao, belonged to the Amutchapalli village of Kuderu mandal in Anantapur district. On 28th March, 1998, PW’s Pennahobilam squad had taken shelter in a peasant’s house in Amutchapalli village. The informer Kesavarao, after knowing about the squad’s presence, informed the police. The police raided the shelter in which two comrades escaped but Com. Nirmala was caught by the police and was killed in a fake encounter. After that incident Kesavarao intensified his spying activity by even participating in the combing operations of the police. The PW party propagated about this informer amongst the people through posters and meetings and warned him of his activities. But he didn’t change. Instead he permanently stayed at Anantapur town with the support of SP, VRK Mohanrao, who agreed to give him a constable’s job. As all efforts failed to cure him the PW party’s special squad annihilated this informer at his house in Anantapur town on 22nd December, 1999.

(iv) An informer, Gabbilam Sanjeevarao belonged to Chintapalli area of Vishakapatnam district. Upto 1985 he covertly participated in the village peasant organisation activities. In 1995, the PW party sent him to the Chintapalli town for a work. This informer went to Chintapalli and returned with a police batch that attacked the sleeping squad members, in which five comrades were martyred on September 1, 1985. After that encounter he openly took a police job and did atrocities by helping the police to arrest and torture many peasant activists. He participated in several encounters. In 1995, the government appointed him as a special branch constable and posted him at Anakapalli. But he didn’t stay in Anakapalli town, instead always roamed the agency area trying to know the squad’s movements. Though the PW party decided to annihilate this informer since 1985, he was not available. Then the PW party formed a special squad to annihilate this informer. On getting information from the people, the PW squad shot him dead on the road of Chintapalli at 6 O’ clock of May 12, this year.

People Thrash Landlords’ Goons

(i) In the Pothapalli village of Ramagiri mandal of Anantapur district, the pseudo-ML goondas of the landlord Paritala Ravi routinely attacked the villagers. Though the PW party and village revolutionary peasant organisation warned them against their wrong doings, they never listened, instead a 15-member goonda gang attacked the village activists and severely beat them. Though both men and women of the village resisted the goondas, because of the goondas’ weapon power, people didn’t do any thing. As their atrocities were increasing unabated, the village revolutionary peasant organisation decided to teach them a lesson. On 9th of March, 20 militants of a village revolutionary peasants organisation, armed with big chisels and bombs, attacked the goondas in their den and thrashed their leader, Adeppa.

(ii) In Maddulacheruvu village of Kanaganapalli mandal of Anantapur district, landlord Suryanarayan Reddy’s (of Hyderabad car-bomb fame, mainly roams outside the village) goons had become an obstacle to the peasant struggle in that area. The goons took the responsibility of protecting the landlord’s property. The revolutionary peasant organisation that was formed in that village, started land struggles and resisted the goondas’ atrocities. Several times, the landlord’s goons attacked the peasant activists. The poor peasants tried to hold a meeting under the leadership of the VRCS in that village on the atrocities of the goondas. But the goondas of Suryanarayan Reddy attacked the venue place. As the landlord goons’ attacks intensified, the PW party decided to attack the landlord’s goons. 65 militants from the VRCS under the leadership of the local squad, attacked the goondas in their den. The militants thrashed the main goonda, Kuruba Ujjanappa. Two other goondas, Seenappa and Sivalingam escaped. After 10 days, the militants (30 in number) caught hold of Seenappa and severely thrashed him. After that incident, the goons were put before a people’s court in which 200 people both men and women attended. The goons apologised to the people for their deeds.

Seizure of Wireless Set

As per the requirements of the party, the activists of Avudam village of Sirpur-Chennur area (Adilabad district) took away the wireless set from the DFO on 4th April, 2000. The next day the police came in large numbers and attacked the village as well as surrounding villages and beat the people. The police threatened the villagers to show the village leaders whereabouts. But the people firmly answered the police with one voice that if the police want they could put a case on the whole villagers. On seeing the people’s fervour, the police had no other way but to leave the village.

People Rise Against Police Atrocities

(i) The police atrocities on the people of Chennur-Sirpur area of Adilabad district has become a routine affair. The informers accompanying the police raided the Karjipeta, Nakkalapalli, Chamandlapalli, Badhampalli, Budharam villages. The police has been harassing and torturing the villagers for the whereabouts of the guerrilla squad. The Badhampalli incident is one such, in which Comrade Pasula Chandraiah was beaten to death by the police.

Com. Chandraiah was a landless poor peasant. He had relations with the PW party since 10 years. He has worked as a leader of the village peasant organisation from 1990 to 1992. He organised the village people to occupy the lands of the village landlord, Pochagoud. He had even gone to jail in the land struggles. He was always close to the people and heard and solved their problems patiently and the people treated him as an elderman of the village.

As usual, the police attacked the village in May this year for the whereabouts of the guerrilla squad. They beat some people to get information on the squad and combed the nearby forests, but returned with empty hands. The next day, again they attacked the village and took into custody some youth and beat them severely before the people. After seeing this Com. Chandraiah asked the police as to why they were beating the people without any fault. The police got enraged and caught hold of Chandraiah and beat him severely with lathis and rifle buts. Com. Chandraiah died on the spot. The news of Com. Chandraiah’s death spread to surrounding villages. The people from Nakkalapalli, Chamandlapalli, Shamanapalli rushed to the Badhampalli and demanded punishment of the police who were responsible for the death of Com. Chandraiah and demanded the authorities to do the post-mortem before them. They stopped the police from taking the dead body for 24 hours. They roared slogans against the police and their boss Chandrababu Naidu. The next day, more people were mobilised and started demonstrations against the police on the cruel murder of Com. Chandraiah. Opposition parties, other mass organisations, democrats also participated in the demonstrations and held dharnas as the dead body of Chandraiah was still in the village. As the people’s anger intensified, the government grew afraid and ordered an enquiry into the incident. The Central minister Shamanthakamani and MLA Boda Janardhan visited the village and agreed to give one lakh rupees as an ex-gratia to the Chandraiah family and Rs. 5000/- each for the injured people in the police beating. But the people were not quietened by these government grants. They demanded the punishing of the police responsible for the murder and the stoppage of police raids on the villages. They did not allow the post-mortem to be done until the minister and MLA agreed to the stopping of raids on the villages.

(ii) Recently, a police party attacked the Erraguntla village of Garladinne mandal of Anantapur district and arrested the leader of the village revolutionary peasant organisation. Immediately people of Erraguntla and Mukundapuram got mobilised under the VRCS leadership and destroyed the motors of the local landlord who was responsible for their leader’s arrest and went in a procession to the police station and demanded their leader’s release. On seeing the people’s anger, the police immediately released the leader.

People Participate in the Work Day

For the requirements of the PW party’s economic needs, the people of Ramagiri area of Anantapur district, every year have been doing a work day and contributing that money for the party’s needs. This year also the people of Perur dam under the leadership of their revolutionary peasant organisation and women’s organisation had gone to work for tamarind fruit picking work and contributed Rs. 1000/- for the party. In the same way, the people of Dubbarlapalli had gone for groundnut carrying work and contributed Rs. 100/- and the people of Vepacharla also contributed Rs. 700/- from their work day.
