Notorious Police Agent Somla Naik Annihilated

On December 26, 1998 notorious police agent, Somla Naik, was annihilated by the people of Chinna Munagala village in Nalgonda district.

Somla worked as a secret police agent while being a member of the Krishnapatti armed guerilla squad of CPI (ML) [People’s War] in Nalgonda district. On April 4, 1998, at about 2 a.m. when the entire squad members were fast asleep at Pavuralagutta, the coward, who was on centry duty, clandestinely collected all the weapons of the unsuspecting comrades, hit them and opened fire while shouting "police ! police !" to create confusion. Four comrades, including the commander of the squad, became martyrs and the police dog, Somla, ran away with the weapons and handed them over to his police bosses.

Appreciating the ‘heroic’ deed of their agent, Somla was given several lakhs of rupees by the AP government and police protection was provided. Ever since the killing of the People’s War guerillas in April last, the party and the people in the villages of Nalgonda district vowed to avenge the murder of the comrades. Somla was all the time moving under police escort and staying in Hyderabad city - a place considered to be relatively safer for the people’s enemies.

Emboldened by the pampering by the state, Somla engaged himself in threatening and harassing petty traders and people in the villages of Krishnapatti area demanding huge amounts with the connivance of the police. On December 26, he went to Chinna Munagala along with two other goondas and threatened the people by brandishing his revolver. Enraged by this, the people, who were already furious over his shameless act at Pavuralagutta, surrounded him and stoned him to death. Shocked by the news top police officials of the district immediately rushed to the village.

Annihilation of this police agent and infiltrator by the people themselves has come as a warning to all the people’s enemies and as a inspiration to revolutionary sections.
