Deep Homage to Comrade Shamsheer Singh Sheri

It was with great shock and sadness that we learned of the death of Comrade Karam Singh (KS) alias Shamsher Singh Sheri, the PBM of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), on 30th October 2005. He passed away after lying three days in comma due to severe illness caused by the cerebral malaria-jaundice combination. He was an old timer from the legendary Naxalbari movement and a prominent leader of the Maoists in Punjab as well as the leader of one of the organizations supporting the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM) full heartedly. He played an important role in the initiation, formation and development of CCOMPOSA, which came into existence in 2001. He struggled over many decades for the cause of communism and fought hard for the unity of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist forces in India and the on a world scale. It was under his leadership that the RCCI (Maoist) unified with the MCC in 2002. He also played an important role, ideologically and politically, in bringing about the historic merger of PW and MCC.

A firm upholder of M-L-M, he had thorough knowledge of classical books and took great care least some one misquoted from them. He never lost his heart in the long period of setback, splits and hardships. He never bowed his head before the cruel enemy. He upheld the red banner of MLM and bitterly opposed the revisionism of all hues raised in the international arena and in the communist polity of our country.

Let us fight for the fulfillment of the cherished dreams of Comrade KS to establish communism in the world. He had always taken deep interest in Nepal's communist movement. He was present in the Fifth Congress of unified Mashal held in 1985. The untimely demise of Comrade Karam Singh has caused a serious loss to the ongoing revolutionary struggles in India and the world as well.
